Do you find yourself waking up early just to get things done? Maybe you are trying to accomplish household chores? Or, maybe you get out of bed and start working on your business before the first child hears you. We all try to wake up early, before the kids realize we’re up, to get things done. It’s a constant battle to fit everything in that needs to get done into a life with little ones who need your attention. Sometimes things suffer and I don’t want that to be your business! I want you to be a mom who can do it all, all the time.
Most of us already have days that are filled with constant battles trying to get everything done that needs to be done in one day, and that is on top of having little ones who need your attention all the time.
Instead, I suggest you @@put your house and your business on hold first thing in the morning and take that time for you.@@ Come on, you deserve it - you have a busy day ahead of you.
First things first! Do NOT try to do anything for your business during these early morning hours before you children wake up. I know, I know. I just told you that I absolutely do not want your business to suffer, but more important than your business, I don’t want you to suffer. More important than your business, is your sanity! You will not be able to succeed in business if you are always stressed about getting things done that don’t pertain to your business. For example, if you need to do the laundry because it has become a mountain that you can’t even reach the top of, then that is what you need to do.
It also will not help if you are halfway through a business task and the baby wakes up needing your attention. Leave the business task for later in the day when the kids are at school, taking a nap, or otherwise occupied for an hour or more. You will get more accomplished if you take your morning to do things that benefit you. Because, let’s face it Momma, you are the glue that holds your family together and if you can’t stay sane, the rest of your family can’t either.
Instead of getting up first thing in the morning and trying to rush to get a task marked off your to-do list, I have a better idea for you. Below are 5 Productive Ways to Spend Your Kid-Free Morning.
Here are better ways to spend those few minutes of peaceful morning bliss before the kids catch on that someone else is awake in the house (because they somehow always know).
LISTEN TO YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC STATION
It’s seems simple and a bit counterproductive, but taking your mind off your business for a few minutes will help you mind re-energize. Once you have put on some headphones and listened to your favorite music, you will be much more equipped to tackle your to-do list later in the day.
MAKE YOUR TO-DO LIST FOR THE WEEK
Yes, this is a little business related. It can help to visualize what you have to accomplish and organize your week accordingly. You will be able to see and schedule your ‘business time’. Get excited! Your business will be thriving in no time.
It would also to be good to plan out your to-do list for the week for your home life as well. This way you are able to compare the two and see how much time you will need for each thing on your list. We don’t always have the time to attend a bootcamp or run 5 miles in the morning, but we can all exercise a little bit. My exercise of choice - stretching. If you can’t commit to a long exercise routine in the morning, stretching is the perfect exercise to relax and prepare your body and mind for the day ahead. You will be surprised with how much better you will feel after you have done just a little exercising.
ENJOY A CUP OF COFFEE OUTSIDE
The number one complaint I hear from all my momma friends is that they never get to enjoy a still hot cup of coffee in the morning. It’s always rush rush rush and their coffee inevitably has to be reheated three times before it is fully consumed. Take this morning time to enjoy your coffee. Take it outside, so you won’t be distracted by any technology or television. Added bonus, the brisk morning air is sure to wake you up and energize your body. Be sure not to feel guilty about taking this time for you, remember if you don’t give to yourself first, there is no way you will be able to give of yourself to your home, your business, and most importantly, your children.
DECLUTTER YOUR SPACE
It might not be the most fun task, but decluttering and cleaning out an area of your home can really motivate you to take on the day. @@A cluttered workspace can lead to a cluttered mind@@ when you sit down to work. Whether you need to clean up your kitchen so you’re not thinking about that while sitting down to focus on your business or literally clean up your workspace so you can actually work, decluttering and tossing the unnecessary papers will surely free up your mind to create some amazing products for your business!
So, whether you are the quiet morning coffee drinker, the dancing queen, the making a list momma, the exercising maniac, or the organizer be sure to take those precious moments and make them your own. You need that time to energize you for the day ahead.
